What does this have to do with believing in the Bible, or not?

Well, it has much to do with perspective ...and how we compare our knowledge with those who have gone before us.

What is the main reason why people don't believe the Bible is the Word of God?

Does it really matter?

Yes, and no.

What matters is why 'we' believe what we believe.  And yes, it does matter what others believe also, if we care about them.

When should it not matter?

What the majority believe should not affect how we believe ...it is mostly relevant what 'we' believe.

But, it is even more relevant that we believe the truth.  It is futile and does not produce good ...to invest our being in something that is not true.  At times it may seem to help psychologically ...but the short term benefits may prove detrimental in the long run.  In most cases, it is best to embrace the truth.
